As waves of Eastern Europeans immigrated to the beautiful island of Australia, many happily embraced Aussie culture however too many starved from a complete lack of continental smallgoods found in their home lands.
Immigrants from Poland husband and wife team Marian and Nora Poprawski set on a life journey to feed the Eastern Europeans of Australia with carefully hand-crafted and wood smoked smallgoods, sausages and cured meats based on century old traditions and recipes from the home land.
What began as a home based operation distributing products amongst friends within the Polish community expanded to a boutique Dandenong based manufacturing premises and Deli, distributing stock to several Deli’s around Victoria as well as interstate.
For 20+ years the old-style deli and smokehouse has been a closely guarded secret within the Polish community, today with the addition of Young Uncle’s café and carefully selected stockists the word is slowly getting out. More and more Australians are tasting the difference of Uncle’s small batch, expertly handcrafted, natural and wood smoked products.
